And you, too. Let someone know you’re thinking about them!

I got this old Australia illustrated atlas at the thrift store. It took me a couple of days to psych up into cutting it up, but I love the map pictures as cards. I already like the linework and faded colors, so I just added a hand-stamped message to personalize them a bit.

Kitten approved.

No bees, actually. Birds and trees. Here are some paint chip collage cards I made the other day:

(Have I mentioned I’m on a dark teal kick? And orange is always my favorite.)

Go to your nearest hardware store, pick out the colors that grab your eye, and see how they inspire you

Still no one wants to pay me to do anything. Nonethless, I am still doing things. That will show them.

This card is something I did today. It’s welcoming in the fall! And I think it’s pretty cute. It’s another one made from the insides of security envelopes [see Day 15.]

Fall happens to be my favorite season, and it’s right around the corner.  On Wednesday we are going into the country to go apple picking! Which is splendid because I love: fall, apples, orange leaves, pumpkins, petting zoo?, hayrides……There will be lots of pictures to show.

MailWhen you’re half way across the country from almost everyone you know, it’s important to keep in touch. Plus making cards keeps me busy while I’m at home all day until I find a job….

I’ve been saving all the envelopes I get my bills in because I like the patterns. With the busy patterns, though,  it’s best  to keep the shapes simple. This card uses scraps of these envelopes to make a city skyline.

About

I know this much is true:

I graduated in 2009, thinking I wanted to be an architect. I'm not. But I do get to organize and beautify things for a living, which is a-okay by me. After college I packed up a van and moved a thousand miles away. Now I'm in Boston and a little out of my comfort zone. But there's a lot to learn and see and do! My interests, aside from architecture and leaving Indiana, revolve around everything beautiful. Furniture, houses, stationery, clothes, trees....I just want it all to be lovely and functional and clever. Also I like cats.

Beyond those simple facts, I'm kind of at a loss.

So this is a blog of what I DO know is true. Ideas, inspirations, crafts, cats... the things I think are beautiful and honest and real.
